Who am I?
Well, you will not find my deepest darkest secrets here but you will get a snapshot of who I am. I am the wife of Abraham- a fine furniture maker and cabinet builder who has a Master's Degree in Old Testament studies, loves mountain bike riding, reading, watching movies, horse-trading and is still figuring out what he wants to do in life. I am the mother of Aven, an adorable (if I don't say so myself) currently 3 1/2 year old girl who is teaching me so many things about myself and about life every day and the momma to an almost one year old Elodie. I am the doggie-mama of Ethel and Eleanor- the best pit bulls in the whole wide world.
I am a lover and aspire to do many things- I have only to be a master and expert of a few. I aspire to be a better cook, gardener, photographer, writer, reader and overall creative person. I love so many things like movies, books, music, photographing, pit-bull rescue, organic foods, baking, blogging, vintage finds, fabric, scented candles, fresh flowers fruit and vegetables, coffee, chocolate, magazines like Sunset & American Bungalow, historic preservation, neighborhood involvement, my vintage (and often ignored) Raleigh bicycle, live concerts, hiking, travel and so many things.
I am a bit of a snob about some things and could care less about others. Snob you say? Well, there are things in life that I prefer the finer of: woodworking & cabinets, coffee, chocolate and environmental and historical home restoration. The things I don't consider myself a snob about I just have a general opinion- just the way I am.
In real life I gave up my full time gig as a manager of a local bank branch and now I work part time as a teller and spend the rest of my time managing the affairs of our household and hanging with my kiddos. I have a teaching degree in high school English that I hope to one day use (partly because I have loads of books boxed up in my attic). My dream job would be a high school English teaching position that was made for me (haven't figured that out yet) or getting paid to work with pit-bull rescue organization. I want the best for my family today and for their futures and I pray that we would all be lovers of Jesus Christ and that we would be responsible citizens of his creation by caring for those around us and creating a better world for the future.
I welcome your feedback, critiques, criticisms and comments. I strive to be honest and transparent in my writing and to have an authentic voice. Blessings to you in all you do- who you strive to be- and the journey to get there.
